My subject is "Weiβe 9" Günter Migge. 1./NJGr. 10, Werneuchen, 1944. I've not been able to find out much about this chap but I believe he was credited with 8 night mission kills and awarded the German Cross in Gold.

At last I've made a start. Cockpit detail on this kit is not overly impressive in fact the only thing on the walls is the trim wheel, so I have taken a plunge and decided to make use of a spare Euards etched detail cockpit set for a Tamiya Fw 190 which is a little larger than this Dragon kit, but with a bit of fiddling, I think I can make it work.

First comparison is the cockpit well, the kit plastic bit and formed Edwards well which once painted will be spruced up with other Edwards PE bits.

The Edwards PE also provides a better forward cockpit wall, the red arrow indicating the bit to be surgically removed.

Next I made a start on the cockpit walls, pic one shows the kit part and one of the PE substitutes. I was a bit worried that placing this PE part it would create a space problem for the cockpit well. So I modified the PE part by removing the lower three quarters and just using the upper part coupled with another PE part that would have overlayed the larger unmodified part (pic two)

Not very enterprising I know, but once the innards are painted, things should improve.

Agreed. With the slope of the side walls, I fear that not much will be seen though.

Many thanks guys. The last couple of days have been good to me and I've managed to get it all together.

The cockpit IP and such as it looked prior to fitting. The seat is only just plopped in place and will be added later.

Here we have the closed up fuselage with all the bits fitted and just to reiterate what Andy said, not only are the side walls almost not visible but so is most of the IP. Anyway, the main thing is I managed with a bit of fiddling, to get it all fitting nicely though I do note a bit of the Armour plating on the starboard side need tacking down a bit more.

Apologies for the quality of the pics, I'm still having trouble finding a suitable location for photographing these close-ups.

Doing good there Vic, one issue though, Migge's aircraft did not carry the fuselage Armour plating.
