The Gekko premise started out as a long range twin engine fighter capable of going up against single engine fighters with maneuverability designated the J1N1.The prototype was available in March of 41 but in 1942 it's designation changed to Type 2 Land-Base Recon. In May of 43 a prototype was equipped two guns at a 30' angle at the front and received two kills on their first mission of a night run of B-17's.The early production Gekko as I will be depicting had 4X20mm that I would call cannon's not guns two pointing skyward above the canopy (anybody say earplugs) and two below pointing forward for ground or shipping use.

Nice one! Looking forward to seeing this one built up since it is not one of those kits you often see.

The paint has started on this one.The copit called for a blue metallic mixed with clear green my solution was blue metallic laid in enamel and Tamiya clear green on top(maybe abit heavy). The front and rear sections of the fuse go titanium per instructions I went stainless steel. The instructions on the kit show rear hatch silver inside while the walls in that area are blue green? The wings are glued, them and the engines may get the first hit over the fuse this time while I paint the copit area.

The Japanese made alot of stuff with lines that rival the Italians race day looks. The Japanese armor is to be desired though while their planes/ships are beautiful .

Thks for all the Niice feedback fellas it's a start.;)

Tonight I got some of the interior green laid, chrome black for the gun carriage/guns and tried Wayne to tone down the metallic green with a thin coat of metallic blue :dontknow: Seems to show more in person than pics but my eyes could be playing tricks.I am just asking if anybody has handy (don't go scrounging for me) pics or ideas about the consoles in this plane side one's,IP radar tower?I will do a search in a couple of days if answers or thought's or thin.I appreciate you guys looking in ;)
