I looked at that possibility, but Tokyo time is the same as Iwo Jima time so both places are in the same time zone.
I found a Japanese website which says the B-29s and P-51s were in the target area from 1108-1121 hours.

Just found this:
https://506thfightergroup.org/Iwo%20Feb-Apr.asp
The 15th Fighter Group comprised of the 45th, 47th and 78th Fighter Squadrons was the first to arrive at Iwo Jima, via Hawaii and Saipan in February.
First Lieutenant Hank Ryniker, 47th Squadron: "A field order for the next VLR...
I'm a bit confused with Muto Kaneyoshi's victory over a P-51 on 12 April 1945. The Yokosuka Kokutai war diary states that three N1K2s engaged P-51s and B-29s at 0920 hours and shot down one P-51 over Chofu, Tokyo. This kill has been credited to Muto Kaneyoshi...
Yeah I couldn’t find any Japanese fighter claims that day either, but I did find this information by Fukubayashi Toru:
Jul. 10, 1945, P-47 (507FG, 464SQ) crashed offshore Amami-Oshima, Island Kagoshima- ken.
Maj. Frank J. COLLINS got out of the plane and was drifting in a rubber raft. He was...
I guess it makes sense to refer to the Shiden-Kai as just Shiden.
Also do you have similar documents for the 203rd Kokutai on 10 July 1945? It seems those documents aren’t on Jacar either.
Yeah it does say Shiden which is strange. Every book I’ve read that describes this encounter mentions Shiden-Kais whether it’s “Genda’s Blade” by Henry Sakaida or “J2M/N1K aces” by Yasuho Izawa. So would you say that the report you have is more accurate than those books I mentioned?
Are the war diaries anywhere online or do you know who made the victory claims that day?
I have these claims:
22 June 1945:
7 F4Us claimed by N1K2-J
2 F4Us went down
-Kanno Naoshi - 1 F4U - Probably one of the two F4Us that went missing
8 August 1945
6 P-47s/P-51s claimed by N1K2-J
4 P-47Ns...
I found the 343rd kokutai's war diary for April 1945 but I can't find 22 June 1945 or 8 August 1945. On 22 June 1945 the 343rd kokutai claimed 7 F4Us over Okinawa while on 8 August 1945 the 343rd kokutai claimed 6 P-47s/P-51s over Yawata, Kitakyushu. I want to find the war diary entries for...
Yes
On 8 July 1945 16 N1K1s of the Tsukuba Kokutai fought against 20 P-51Ds near Tokyo. The N1K1s claimed three P-51s shot down and two P-51s were lost after they were shot down near Hyakurigahara naval base
I have one for the N1K2 as well. On 12 April 1945 Yokosuka Kokutai N1K2s and 302nd...
On the 10 July 1945 I found these losses:
Jul. 10, 1945, B-29 (#42-93939, 314BW, 6BG) crashed offshore Hesaki, Moji-shi (present
Kitakyushu-shi), Fukuoka- ken.
Note: Mission No.256 (Targets: Kanmon Strait, Niigata and Nanao. 31 B-29s sortied from
313 BW and 1 was lost)
11 crewmembers including...
From "Imperial Japanese Navy Aces 1937–45" By Henry Sakaida:
"On 10 June 1945 Tanimizu fought against P-47s in a savage battle over Kyushu, and although he seriously damaged a Thunderbolt, his Zero was hit in the oil pipe and he was forced to make an emergency landing."
Which Thunderbolts did...
