Why some of them are painted in red? And why Ice-cream???

the yellow bombs - the operational sorties,
the red bombs - raids over Berlin,
the ice-cream markings - raids on Italian targets such as Milan and Turin.

Why the ice cream? ... just because of the Italian ice-cream IMHO.
