With the supply of 215 P-36 airframes to the US Army, Curtiss also received export orders for their P-36 variant, Hawk 75A. Export amounted to 900 Hawk 75A's in various models.
The Hawk 75A was extensively used by the French Air Force and Chinese air units. After the fall of France, the majority of their order were transferred to Britain (where it was known as the Mohawk) and via Britain to British Commonwealth forces. Several dozen also fought in the Finnish Air Force against the Soviet Red Air Force.
