Shown here is a P-70 Nighthawk of the 6th Night Fighter Squadron taxis on the Marston matting at Hemderson Field. A total of five P-70s arrived in November 1942, hoping to score against the night-time nuisance raids being carried out by Japanese bombers at that time.
