Shown here are Ju 86Z-7s of No.12 Sqd SAAF taking-off on an anti-submarine patrol in 1940. They were equipped with a single 7.7 mm (0.303 in) fixed forward-firing mg in the nose, a single flexible 7.7 mm (0.303 in) Vickers mg in a partly enclosed dorsal position, and a single 7.7 mm (0.303 in) Vickers mg in a semi-retractable ventral 'Dustbin'. Bombs racks were attached beneath the fuselage centre section.
