The P.23, a three-seat reconnaissance bomber, was hardly beautiful yet it provided the tactical attack capability of Poland. By the outbreak of World War II, 14 of the bomber regiments had been equiped with the Karas.
During the desperate four-week invasion of Poland by Germany they were flown with great gallantry though they suffered severe losses.
