Shown here is Spitfire Mk.IA, SD-J, (X4381), of No.501 Sqd based at Colerne, Northern Ireland, in June 1941. With the exception of the duck-egg blue spinner and fuselage band, it is in its original production colours of late August 1940. These included tail fin flash, and small underwing roundels at the tip - which wa speculier to the X42 to X44 series.
