Shown here is a Manchester Mk.I, GP-?, (L7453) of No.1661 HCU, based at Winthorpe which collided with a Halifax in the circuit on 1st May, 1943. Note the badly flaked black 'nigh' finish: also that the unit code letters still appear to be painted grey and not dull red as ordered to be applied from spring 1942.
