The stranded Type VIIC Boat U-617 was further attacked by Swordfish aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm and shelled by the Royal Australian Navy minesweeper HMAS Wollongong as well as the trawler HMS Haarlem. The crew of the U-boat destroyed all important material and moved inland. Ref: AIR 15/471
