USS Moberly

Shown here is a pic taken from USS Moberly (PF-63), showing a depth-charge pattern exploding around the ill-fated U-853, on the morning of 6 May 1945. The sub had torpedoed a small collier off Point Judith, Rhode Island, shortly before USS Atherton (DE-169), USS Ericsson (DD-440) and Moberly made their kill.
