If I was a bazillionaire, I'd have at least one of every airplane used, and have someone build whatever was not available to restore. In addition there are a few that are not WW2 that I'd have as well!
In the meantime, I'll keep dreaming, and in no particular order here's my short(ish) first...
The short answer is: "Because they are old and it is their time to go." And the question that pops into my mind is: "Why are you not talking to them before they go?"
