since its on a similar vein (movies, movies about WW2, churchill, movies we don't know the names of...)
Churchill the movie (not affiliated with Lego the movie) starring Gary Oldman, is an awesome film.
Got no Spitfires in it tho.
Okay, I found this in one of my books:
"366 Lib IIIs were assigned to Coastal Command as Sub Hunters. An additional 11 B-24Ds (not the British altered Mk IIIs) were delivered directly to Coastal Command during the Battle of the Atlantic, retaining standard US armament. For RAF purposes these...
What exactly does "LV340" and "OH -X120" mean?
Are you suggesting the aircraft in question was marked "LV340" as in the aircraft ID?
Like these Mk.IIIs from 120 Sqdn (in Ireland, 1942) are marked FK228 and FL933?
Other than the correct aircraft code, they all appear to look like this.
They...
Extremely amazing work. I love Mustangs and this is an outstanding build.
Not sure if anyone brought this up, but I think your main gear doors are finished wrong inside.
I think you've got the colours/finishes backwards.
The inner door panel would be green ...and the added rub plate* is usually...
Its a good film, and everyone should see it.
But its not the same as Spitfire.
Its less about Lancasters, and more about bombing missions and the politics behind it all.
Bombers did a lot of damage and killed a lot of people, civilians included (casualties of a German war),
and while Churchill...
Trying to find info (a photo to be specific) of MkIII Mustang FX952 Photo Recon of 241 Sq. RAF
(I'd like to do a paper model version to add to my catalog of Mustang kits)
I'm not interested in plastic modellers stories or Artist Profiles.
I would really like to find a genuine photo of this...
I posted this a few years back on another forum...kind of appropriate...
somebody was arguing the virtues of the beautiful B17.
Not really scientific...just a fun comparison.
B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber VS P-47 Thunderbolt Fighter
The beautiful B17 proved its worth in WW2, but when you look at...
Werger....yes, thats one of my models.
Many modelers will create their own clear plastic canopy (vacuform or flat-cut)
but I still like to include a paper canopy in my kits.
You can use the printed paper canopy, or use the pattern to cut acetate.
A paper canopy isn't perfect, but as you see...
If this movie had been made in the 1950s, I would say its a good addition to your War Movie collection.
Unfortunately its a CGI mess, with unrealistic scenes, and Hollywood over-drama.
The choice of Director tells you all you need to know...Roland Emmerich...who is very good at far fetched...
Anyone know more about the catapult cable?
Obviously its securely attached to the landing gear, and stays with the plane after takeoff.
Did it get in the way raising the gear and closing the doors?
Or maybe, if it was just a short jaunt to shore, they left the gear down?
This is a great find!
I doubt this was a 'Trainer'...its not Trainer Yellow (I'd love to know exactly what code yellow was used) and the graphics/striping suggest something more personal.
I'd say its a 'Hack"...maybe even used for observers/recon.
The bubble canopies are often used when they...
I don't believe I've ever posted here, so its about time I said hello.
I am a member of so many forums, there just isn't time to be active on all of them.
My apologies for just being a lurker.
I use many forums like this one for reading entertainment, historical education, and research for my...
Unfortunately I've never the met the man, but he has signed one of my models!
(the other fellow in the last photo is the modeler who built my paper model and showed it to Bud)
