Finally finished.
The aerial is a strand of my hair. I had my hair cut last week. It's a good job this isn't 1/48 scale. :)
Next time I'm going to use a lighter shade of grey on a 1/72 scale model. But this won't be seen much, as it will be on a stand (eventually)...
I found that the kit came with two sets of exhaust stubs. I tried to fit the other ones, which look better than the first set. However they were an abysmal fit into the slots in the fuselage. I did managed to get the old stubs out. Fortunately I was sparing in my application of CA glue :)...
The backing stub is as far into the fuselage slot as it will go, so they've been engineered to look like that !! I stuck them in with CA, so levering them out might be a tad tricky. I think I'll have to leave them on this build.
I want to do another P51b anyhow, so I'll put this down to...
According to higher authority ( :) ) the basement will be painted in Hepplewhite Ivory and the woodwork in Cloud White when it's finished 8)
The P51-B got a lot of silver paint on it in various places tonight. It now looks more battered than a piece of cod in a chip shop...
The loop...
Too right about the decals, that was easily the best set I've used this year. :)
The yellow stripes are nice and opaque, so you don't see the OD underneath, but the decals themselves are thin and easy to apply. Great stuff. It didn't say on the sheet where they were printed...
Decalfest on Saturday afternoon, while the kids were out with the grandparents and wife. :)
Very impressive decals on this kit, especially the wrap around ones on the tail, and the shark's mouth decal on the nose (which is a 1 piece jobby, and fits perfectly) :D
Very...
Yesterday's efforts
Wheels up, as I lost an oleo for the Mustang! Undercarriage doors installed. They were too big and needed sanding down all the way round to fit properly.
More work completed today!
I'm also building a Revell Hurricane IIc in 1/72, so you get bonus...
These things happen... :)
The undercarriage doors need quite a lot of trimming to sit flush with the lower wing, they are too big alround. I've also attached the drop tanks and painted the spinner. :)
And forgotten to take photos
Cheers

After a few days of inactivity (owing to a bad back, ouch! ), I made a bit of progress on the P51B Firstly, primed with Tamiya medium surface primer, as I didn't like the way the plastic looked when it was filed, scraped or sanded.
I painted the upper surfaces Vallejo Grey Olive - it's...
Fully assembled F-15 in Bicentennial Colours
The jet exhausts went on with no drama. The undercarriage is very weedy and fragile though. This one will need careful handling.
Not a tail sitter, as long as you put a few grams in the nose. The canopy fit could be better.
The...
Finished the Tiffie!
A bit of weathering with pastels to pick out the panel lines and add some exhaust and gun staining.
Completed builds while I have been down in the in-law's basement :)
Academy Typhoon, Airfix Sea Hurricane IIc, Spitfire Mk IIa (from a Tamiya Mk 1 kit...
Delayed by my vacation builds, but a little more progress on the F15
Red nose day :)
The white is just Tamiya fine white surface primer from a rattle can. If you put Klear/Future/Pledge on it, it makes a good white without having to put any other paint on it.
cheers
