On the night of 29th September 1943 my father Wally Smith flew as Engineer on a operation to Berlin.
This was not with his normal crew but was with Wing Commander D M H Craven as pilot.

Can anyone give me any information on 41285 Sgt Jack Samuels, an Austrailian W/ Operator, during his time spent at Leconfield with 466 Squadron.
He was W/Op on my fathers second tour with 463 squadron and was best man at his wedding in 1945.

At 15.40 hours on the 19th of May 1943 Flight Engineer W J Smith (Wally to his friends) of 12 Squadron Wickenby, along with the rest of the crew, boarded a Lancaster bomber ED 995 PH-X for the fist time. The crew's duty this day was to last only one hour, for as ED 995 had only been delivered...
ED 995 PH-X was lost on a raid on Hanover on the night of 8th Oct 1943.
