    Where are you from?

It amazes me that people can pack up and move so far away from where they were born. I'm 62, and have always lived within 15 miles of where I was born. I can't imagine moving to a different country. It doesn't help when I'm a pack rat. I love to collect just about everything.

    Where are you from?

I have been into aviation for nearly 60 years now. I collect autographs of the aces among other things. I have 1,285 different aces, a couple hundred that aren't, sub commanders, etc. I am probably like most of you where your significant other tolerates your obsession with aviation because...

What if America built De Havilland Mosquitoes instead of the B-17 Flying Fortress?

Yes, it was the fighters, but the bombers brought the fighters up that is what I met. You're right, they would've stripped down the planes they had and made better fighters that could've taken on the P-51s on better terms. The bombers themselves caused the attrition, directly or indirectly...

What if America built De Havilland Mosquitoes instead of the B-17 Flying Fortress?

One point that no one has mentioned would've been a complete failure if the Mosquito replaced the B-17 and the B-24. Attrition. The bombers were responsible not only for shooting down fighters, a big one in itself, but they were responsible for drawing the fighters up to get shot down by our...

    42, 44, 45 lend lease to Britain

Does anyone know the shipment of combat planes under Lend Lease to England during 1942, 1944, and 1945?

    Lend Lease

Does anybody know the number of aircrafts delivered to Russia by England and America by year. I am, also, interested in the aircraft obtained by England lend lease and purchased by year.

    Merlin-powered ME 109

England thought of what happened to Poland, and decided to support Finland against the Soviets. A peace treaty was signed with Germany. Germany attacked Russia. England and Germany began joint ventures. Rolls Royce made available the Merlin engine to Germany's aviation industry. Fuel...

    Buried B-25's

My father was stationed at Rhein-Main Airbase in Germany during the end of the Korean War into 1954. The Corp of Engineers was doing practice work on base and dug up a mountain of German aircraft engines. They pilled them high and destroyed them. My father got a piston from an engine used in...

    American production by type

I have been searching for years for the production of American aircraft by model (ie. P-47, Corsair, etc.) for each year of the war. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
