WW2 in Colour: IL-2 Sturmovik Recovered from a Lake in Murmansk, Russia
Right, I've read the entire thread and found this post by parsifal to be perhaps the most objective and well thought post of it all. Could have ended there. As stupid as WW 1 was, it was inevitable. With most of the western nations having gone through their own industrial, technological, and...
IMO, EADS never had a chance at winning this unless they gave it away. If anything, the very fact that EADS managed to squeeze in to the competition probably forced Boeing to modify it's asking price. But, in the end it's money that talks...lobbying money that is.
Sorry, Euros: Boeing Wins...
Gort has the benefit of three things:
1-There was admittedly poor leadership from the French high command that was for the most part completely caught out of balance due to outdated doctrine.
2-German doctrine completely caught the BEF caught out of balance due to outdated doctrine...
Giraud's 7th Armee actually made good headway into Holland and several serious and sharp engagements occured there. Research by historian David Lehman shows the French troops/tanks engaged from the 7th Arm. to on tough actions, particularly in Breda, and made good use of the terrain as well...

You realize that the above is an equally apt and accurate description of the BEF in 1940 as well?
Nevertheless, I'm more interested in the sources for who were the allies incredible display of historical illiteracy.
A bit unsure why the RN is choosing an aircraft in the first place, as this article states the carriers will not only not carry aircraft, but will be sold after only a few years.
Navy aircraft carrier will be sold after three years - and never carry jets - Telegraph
The co-operation...
I saw this on another forum...and one source indicated that 2 of the crew did not make it out and drowned. Would this not make the aircraft a war grave? Would it be permissible to raise it in this case?
Just saw the news while on my lunch break. French ace was best known for his role in the Normandie-Niemen squadron in Russia. 23 total "kills" and over 250 combat missions.
