Despite the heated (and rightfully so) debate, I'm still having fun with RoF. Give folks some time and I'm sure they'll come up with a private server type of solution to this DRM, much like people can play World of Warcraft offline with GM priveledges, we'll be able to log into a private server...
My dad and I took a trip up to the Evergreen Air Museum this past weekend and something struck me. I never realized how small the Bf-109 really was compared to the vast majority of Allied aircraft.
It's rather difficult to compare aircraft size when the dissimilar airframes are generally...
Nice work Dave, you don't see many artsy type IL-2 vids out there. The only thing I have to critique on is crashing him into a forest. It really just displays the godawful forests that pervade the game...I would have preferred him crashing into something a bit more substantial. But hey...
I'm sporting the HOTAS Cougar and some CH pedals. Love the F-16 control setup so I had to get the home version for myself 8)
The best part is I can map almost everything to these sticks so the keyboard becomes practically obsolete
The biggest obstacle to overcome for me was to not get impatient. I would often just force the landing rather than go around and try again. I usually chop the throttle to about 30 and lower my gear while I'm a ways out, lowering flaps as needed to keep on the same glide path. Also be sure to...
Oh right, there too. On a couple of occasions I've had flak from the Big E and her escorts slow me down a bit too, but just barely. Either way I'm off to go find my '46 disk so I can try some formation flying with you fellers.
Saves on your heating bill at least =) I'm now running a NVidia 9600GT, the only time I stutter is flying over Leningrad with some weather...at 1600x1200
One thing that bears asking is the detail level and resolution you guys are using. Not sure if it will matter if we just use the .trk, but I know from experience that it looks odd when shots are done with differing detail levels. Not to mention file sizes!
I can get a clean install going, all I run is the AAA thingy, mostly for the updated sound. I'll track down my '46 disk again, I think it'll put me at 4.08m or thereabouts.
Exactly what eddie said, drag your opponents down with you. If they insist on an energy fight, start yankin' and bankin' to make them bleed off some of their airspeed, then blast em out of the sky when they overshoot.
If you're playing online I might recommend trying to dupe the other...
Whenever I'm in a turning fight I tend to keep my nose a little lower than my adversary. This often ends up moving the fight into the vertical, but if not it gains a little bit more airspeed and allows for a shot at their belly if they level out for a second. The downside is that you can lose...
I hadn't forgotten about that Hind, my ego just wouldn't let me bring up the subject...that was a bad, bad day. Would be interesting to see what would happen now that I'm a much better stick. Probably wouldn't change much...pivot, kill, pivot, kill, laugh maniacally, land.
