    F4U-7 BuNo. 133710

Here is a pic while owned by Heritage Aircraft. I used to work for the owner who bought from Blaine Fowler. Its n-number was N811AP. It still had the Black Sheep Squadron paint job which was incorrect but showed better on tv. It was sold again a couple of years ago.

    Me 110 today?

Yes, if somebody owns an aircraft they have every right to fly it, but that doesn't mean that they should. I am sure Planes Of Fame has a rigid qualification process but there are a lot of warbird operators that have more money than talent. They take the ego that made them good business men or...

    USA combat aircraft

The P-40 may have been lacking in comparison to the Spitfire and BF-109 but is competitive against any other fighter in the world at the beginning of 1942. The F4F as a naval fighter proved it could compete against the Zero using the proper tactics. In other areas the U.S. already had the...

P-38 vs P-51: Full internal fuel dogfighting

The Lear 31 that I currently fly is certified up to FL510. You would have to be so light to get that high that you would have almost no fuel left. Its a 3.5hr airplane. I've never been above 430 and usually cruise around FL400. By contrast the GIV is certified to 450 and you can usually get...

P-61 or Reverse Lend Lease Mosquito

The USN chose not to operate F-4s from their smaller Essex class carriers in favor of smaller F-8s even though they operated the larger A-3 Skywarriors from those same ships. The French Aeronavale selected the F-8 over the F-4 for their smaller carriers as well.

P-61 or Reverse Lend Lease Mosquito

There is no such thing as mast bumping, only mast bump, it only takes one time to do the job. The 212 has the same basic rotor design as the UH-1D/H(slightly wider blades) so it is susceptible mast hub contact as well. Mast bumping occurs in the low-g environment, by pushing on the stick, not...

Which jet was better, the Me 262 or the Gloster Meteor?

No, I would say that the F-86 and Mig-15 were definitely comparable. I would consider the Meteor F-8 more in a class with the F-80C, F84G, F9f, and F2H.

Which jet was better, the Me 262 or the Gloster Meteor?

In what way was F.8 comparable or better than the MIG 15? The Mig was 50 Mph faster, its ceiling was 7000ft higher, it climbed better and had more range.

Which jet was better, the Me 262 or the Gloster Meteor?

One of the purposes of speed brakes on jets is so you can slow down without reducing engine rpm to the point where spool up time becomes a problem. F-80/T-33s land with their speed brakes deployed so that they can make their approach with a higher power setting. Many carrier jets did the same...

Myths and misinformations in 21st century

In his book AIRWAR, Edward Jablonski writes about the AVG battling Zeros. It shows that you can't trust everything you read.
