Always the way... as the price difference seems to be based entirely on a few bits of red paint, one would hope that the paint has been taken from a genuine Red Arrows Hawk...
Not content with just doing the Voodoo, I've started this up as a little side project:
This is one of GW's ever-expanding line of plastic vehicle kits. The Stormraven is a kind of 41st millennium Huey Hog, being able to land a full squad of Space Marines in enemy territory and provide fire...
Thanks chaps. I have tried getting the nose off, with no joy, but will have another go before I resort to sanding. I'd rather reset it a dozen times than sand and fill...
I was planning to simply superglue them to the fuselage. Seems strange your instructions don't mention nose weights, I would guess the build sequence (and the parts) are identical to both kits
The instructions call for 60-70g placed between the cockpit floor and the nose gear bay. Seeing as depleted uranium isn't easy to come by, I will settle for thee 1oz fishing weights (total 84g), placed a little further aft, behind the cockpit. Hopefully the extra weight will compensate for the...
As a cadet, I was once told that a guy wounded by 5.56mm requires 8 others to evac and treat him. That's taking out a whole section in one shot, or so the thinking goes. I'm not sure how much truth there is in it though.
Very nice Rob! I've got a 1/72 Academy C-97A waiting for a build. It is HUGE. One thing that does concern me about it, is that the nose is one large clear part, with the windscreens moulded in. Full pack of Marlboros and a gallon of coffee to see me through the masking, I think... and a week off...
Vallejo paints are also available from a number of Ebay stores. One seller (Drum Flag, I think it is) offers pre-picked sets, although these are mainly intended for figures and armour, as well as various deals on a set number of bottles. A bit awkward to make the numbers up on those, but if you...
Glad to be of assistance :) There are a couple of 1/48 versions of this type around currently, Classic Airframes being one that I would love to get my hands on
If you don't mind me asking, how do you manage to keep them looking so good after 30 years in a box? I will probably have to...
The new Sukhoi PAK-FA seems to be the biggest noise in fighter design at the moment, and the F-35 saga rumbles on (they're flying again now). I think new design is fairly rare, but with most multi-role aircraft having a life span of 30 years+, I suppose there isn't so much call for it. I don't...
Just when it was going so well...
Having fitted the nose and left it to dry, there is a chuffing great step between nose and fuselage...
I'd like to say it's my fault, but the thing has locator tabs, so it seems it's just bad fit.
It's not a total build-killer; as you can see, it's...
In some ways, it is 'boring', especially in the commercial sector, where everyone flies a Scarebus A3xx. I think there is still some variety in the military sector though. I've become an avid reader of Air Forces Monthly over the last few months, and maybe it's the novelty, but I find the...
