I've finished building a custom three-needle gauge for my Hellcat, modeled after the real thing.
Now that I'm ready to build a selector switch, I do have one question. Does anyone know if the Hellcat's drop tank was tied into the selector-switch system, or did the plane simply start out drawing...
Thanks all. A venture and an adventure, it is.
I've come to appreciate how sophisticated planes from that era were, given that just thirty years before that they were flying cloth-and-wire crates.

Thanks,
I do have that manual. Your tip got me looking, and I found what I wanted on page 26: "Fuel Tank Selector."
From there to National Naval Aviation Museum Virtual Tour, to see a more clear, color image.
Now, to build the darn thing.
Bill
Seems simple enough. Why didn't I think of that!
Follow up: Does anyone know where I might find an image--photo or drawing--of what the fuel-tank selector switch looks like for the four tanks? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
Hi, the title pretty much says it all concerning my question.
I'm working on a model of the F6F-5 Hellcat for the X-Plane flight sim program. I'm getting down to some last-minute, nitty-gritty features. The model will include the 150-gallon drop tank. I've seen images of the Hellcat's fuel...
Thanks all. In the future, I'll use the two flight manuals I have. FYI, Greg, the link you provided apparently no longer is valid. As I say, no problem because I have two flight manuals.

Re: "I believe the Hellcat is an aircraft that has an 'aerobatic' carburetor."
I think that's what I saw on a list of Hellcat specs described as a "pressure carburetor," as opposed to a float carburetor.
Re: "We don't simulate this type of thing in CFS1, but you might in your simulator."...
Thank you. Very helpful. That's a lot of work on your part.
I have a couple of Pilot's Handbooks from WW2 for the Hellcat (shhh, they are "Restricted" and are not to fall into enemy hands, so don't let the government know I have them :) ) and missed that information. I've copied and pasted into...
Hi,
For a flight-sim build I'm doing of the Hellcat: I notice in diagrams of the F6F's cockpit that there is a toggle switch shown for operating the wing flaps. Does that mean that the flaps are either up or down, with no intermediate (half-down) position? Or does the pilot flip the toggle...
Hello,
I've been adding features (with one of the previous author's permission) to an F6F Hellcat in the X-Plane flight-sim program.
One thing I noticed is that two of the three people who've worked on this plane before did not configure it so that the engine would continue to run when the...
Hi,
I'm working on a Hellcat model for the X-Plane flight simulator.
One question is whether the navigation lights on the wings of WW2 planes like this flashed or were just steady lights. The image, taken in 1943, at the link below clearly shows a light. But did it flash like modern wing...
