How crazy is the Catholic Church

Interesting. No matter how many times I keep pointing out that the Church did not say anthing about the girl being guilty of anything, you folks keep insisting that it and I say she is! Can any of you get past your anti-Catholic prejudices and READ, then THINK???? CD

How crazy is the Catholic Church

I did not say that rape is sad. I said that the necessity to kill the children to save her life was sad. The idea that the Church demands the mother be sacrified for the sake of the kids is not true. And, as someone who was raped (statuatory and incestuously, but still raped), I cannot approve...

How crazy is the Catholic Church

Hold it, folks. First off, I am Catholic. I am also not pro-abortion. However, what Tango35 said does not fit what I know of what the Church teaches. I'd like to see the news clippings to know exactly what was said. Letting the mother die to save the kids is not Catholic teaching. If the...

    Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp

We visited (although that is too pleasant a word for such sobering places) Dachau and Auschwitz when we were assigned to Germany in 89-92. What hit me and has stayed in my mind since then is that so many of the dead were turned in by their fellow citizens. Friends, neighbors, countrymen...

Thank you, it was an interesting read! CD

Help needed in identifying this aircraft: rotary engine

No problem. When I saw the thread title, I thought it was going to be some bi/tri/quadriplane monstrosity from WWI, not something as pleasant as a T-6! CD

World War II Aircraft New Production

Just remember one thing when you discuss removing weight. You have to keep the CG where it belongs. There's a saying in R/C models that nose heavy planes my fly poorly, but tail heavy planes only fly once. CD

    Lockheed F-94A

Very nice! Our sister flight at USAF Basic Training had an early model F-94 parked in front of it (We had and F-84F). Spent a lot of time, standing at attention, looking at that F-94! The building next to us had a less-desireable "mascot" aircraft: A Quail decoy/drone... CD

Help needed in identifying this aircraft: rotary engine

I'm not trying to be nit-picky, but it's a radial, not a rotary. A rotary would be something like a LeRhone, where the cylinders spin and the crankshaft stays fixed to the firewall. Rotaries went out after the end of WWI, although there are now rotary piston engines (i.e., Wankels) in use. CD

    Exaggerated panel lines and fasteners.

Take a look at some R/C scale models, especially sport scale, where the proportions, etc., are manipulated to make a better-flying model. As they're judged from a distance, the panel lines are often exaggerated drastically. Looks very dumb, but it's often what wins contests, as the judges...

What was wrong with the F4F Wildcat?

Good points, Renrich. I wonder how many of those experts would, if they were told their car got 25 MPG (average) and had a 20 gallon tank, expect that they could wait until the odometer said 495 miles had elapsed before they'd start looking for a gas station? CD

    French fighter aircrft

Fast bombers only work as long as you keep them fast, which the Luftwaffe didn't. CD

    French fighter aircrft

Fortunately, much of what they learned was wrong, such as the use of unescorted "fast" bombers. That gave them confidence in planes like the He-111, which couldn't survive without fighter escort. CD

World War II Aircraft New Production

I was working at a GE branch that sold aircraft engines when the 262's were started. I had a conversation with some of the sales team that was working on that project, amongst others. When I asked how they thought it might look when word got out that GE was building engines for Nazi fighter...

    Stray bullets...

One that I've long remembered happened on the outskirts of NYC, back in the early 60's. A young girl was driving on a highway along the river, when her car drifted off the road and crashed. She was taken to the hospital and treated for the crash, including an apparent head injury, but died...
