Another thought is that its hard to tell exactly what plane he was in. Hmmm i f you knew the group or the battle group that might help narrow it down. Try searchin just the planes that were involved in the crash and then narrow it down.

Hey ummm i can't help you a lot but I'm doing the same sort of thing. I came across a name and my dad wants to find who he was in the Air Force and the Army and maybe get a picture of him for our genealogy thing. A fireman in a plane? I've never heard of that maybe in transport between ships...

Yeah that's what i was thinking but where is the bottom part of the seat or is it removable? Hmmm all the men on board in the different positions report to their positions before take-off right? So they don't all sit in one place and then take-off and then they spread out to their positions...
