Well, that differs to Clostermann’s statements in his books. I’m aware that there is a lot of phantasy in his books but he knows Tempest and Spitfires and fought against D-9s and he rated the D-9 higher than any allied aircraft except the Tempest.

Well, I found this in a German aviation forum. Most members speculate that the engine is for a Flugwerk D-9 replica. AFAIK two of them are around and at least one is owned by Jerry Yagen

That’s true, long time ago I spent my duty in the German Army (Bundeswehr) but to avoid discussion among the solders there was also an “official” version.
