Well I looked through my cockpit photos I have of 47's and it what you did looks factory original, nice work. From what your saying they were probably silk screened on the metal which looks just like what you did with the sticker and the clear coat applied. Plus you can't beat the cost right...
Looks great Glenn, Were they decal style originally in the P-47? I think they used to do them back then on the aircraft either by engraving(stamping), silk screened or stickers from researching for my panel.

Hey meant to ask you, on your instrument panel's carb air gauge is that an original placard underneath the gauge? If so whats it made out of and how are the letters done? Just curious for my panels accuracy. Thanks

Chris: The cockpit wasn’t fire damaged, the plane had just been pulled out of a lake in Austria when the picture had been taken a few years ago. Not bad condition for being under water for 60 years
