Dumbest question ever posted on this forum?

A Horned Dillema? Is that anything like a Horny Toad? And what makes a toad horny anyway? Sorry, I'm new here but couldn't resist. Maybe I should get my coat as well....

56th FG was the only 8th Air Force unit still flying the P-47, by preference

Part of the reason they were so good with the P47 is because they were one of the only units to actually train in it from scratch. A lot of the other groups that became P47 units had been flying either P40's or P38's beforehand. Thats probably why 5 of the top 10 US aces in ETO were in the 56th...

If the U.S.Army Air Corps had no B-17's at the outbreak of WWII?

The US strategic bombing raids in Europe didn't really get going until 1943 anyway. We needed to get all those planes built, crews trained and then sent over. Then there was the problem of no fighter cover. Those guys on those early raids really took a beating.

What would you rathe have on your bird?

Since the majority of US planes only had 50's I'd probably go the same route. The pilots at the time all seemed to do well enough with them. Weren't the only 2 US planes that were originally designed to carry a cannon the P38 and P39 anyway? And wasn't there also one varient of the Corsair...

    Hello from New York City

Yeah, the SS Atlantus. What's left of it is still there at Sunset Beach. I think it's from WW1 though.

    Hello from New York City

Yeah, I've been going down for over 25 years. It lost all of it's 1950's flavor a long time ago. They've torn down so many of the old hotels to build condo's, it's sad really. But I have a 13 year old who loves the rides and waterparks so we always make the trip down.

    Hello from New York City

Hahaha, I've been spending a few weeks each summer 'down the shore' for years anyway. My family loves spending time in Cape May and Wildwood.

    Hello from New York City

Hey a Long Islander! I originally hail from Brooklyn but grew up in Rockaway Beach. Sadly it was torn apart by Sandy. I'm actually across the river in NJ now. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, much appreciated!

I've always enjoyed reading and studying military history and WW2 aviation has always been a favorite of mine. My knowledge is more about the war in the Pacific, primarily the...
