    1:72 Revell PT-13

I decided to try a start-to-finish of the old Revell PT-13 kit. Never done this before, so have mercy... I've had this in my stash for years. During COVID I built a Monogram P6E and decided it was time for another "yellow wings" aircraft. So here we go... This kithas a 1982 copyright date...

    Ian Huntley?

cvairwerks is correct: Ian Huntley passed away in 2010. I was surprised that no one here mentioned it. He was truly a pioneer in the field and a real character according to many accounts. I still refer to his SAM columns.

Odd question: new automobile paint colors...

OK, maybe OT or inappropriate or wrong forum but.. Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be a lot of new cars coming out in colors that look a lot like old-school camoflage colors? I keep seeing these new cars (Honda, BMW, others) that I swear are in RLM 02, RLM 74, RLM 75, various shades...

    Spirit of St. Louis cowl?

Thanks to all for the great ideas! I think I will test a few on a beater first... I don't think I could consistently draw tiny circles like that though. Maybe I will try making decals. Wouldn't need too many.

    Spirit of St. Louis cowl?

Thinking of building the ancient 1/72 Frog Spirit of St. Louis I've had in the stash for years. It's obviously crude and in need of detailing. How would folks approach replicating this finish on the nose: https://airandspace.si.edu/multimedia-gallery/2001-137hjpg It appears to be hammered...

    Crop Dusters for CAS

Wonder what the countermeasures are going to be? As someone said, drones and MANPADS are the future. Look at what is happening in Ukraine. Aviation Week had an editorial a few months back that basically said attack helicopters and ground attack aircraft are pretty much done because of this...

    1/72 Monogram P-36

I don't think I posted the finished product from the P-36 thread from last year (!). Here it is, built as Finnish CU-563. Another shelf queen from years ago that I vowed to complete during COVID lockdown. Found the scheme on this site...

    Machi Mc.202 Folgore - Italeri 1/72

That is a cool technique. I am about to embark on a number of Italian aircraft builds and will need to practice this before I start. Thanks!

    Messerschmitt 109 G-10 JRV Revell 1/72

Great looking model. A scheme I've never seen!

    1/72 Monogram P6E

This model was a 25 year "shelf queen". It's the 1979 boxing of the kit. I know I built one back in the day when it came out in the 60s, but I'd certainly forgotten how well-engineered and actually challenging it is. (Maybe that's why I put it aside so long ago!) All brush painted, but the...

The place you live in and the history of aviation

I live in Hunterdon County, NJ - which is in the northwest part of the state. Most folks associate NJ with either the industrial/suburban eastern part of the state, or "The Shore". NW NJ is often rugged glacial hills, beautiful farmland and horse farms. A hidden secret... This aviation...

Black B-26 units in the Pacific?

I'm a big music fan, including jazz. Some may know of the great black guitarist/pianist/composer and all around hilariously great entertainer Slim Galliard. He worked with many greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, etc. He had an incredible life. So, what does that have to do with...

    what now?

Yes, that's the aircraft I am modelling. Thanks for the advice!

    what now?

I've been worrying a 1/72 Monogram P-51B for months on and off. I had some decals that seemed good and the scheme seemed easy enough. But in fact it's quite a challenge (for me anyway...): A natural metal aircraft, with O.D. added around the fuselage national insignia and codes, followed by...
