    old Lockheed airplane???

Sorry about that, Sky King's early plane was twin engined, single tailed. Found free episode videos at AmericanFlyers.com. Still, that old plane is so familiar.

    old Lockheed airplane???

Is that the same model that was used in the early episodes of Sky King? I seem to remember Dad telling me his earliest Songbird was a Beechcraft.:?:

    Any P-38 fans out there?

I have been a p38 fan since my youth. I have seen one up close in Belton, MO at a place called Big Irons many years ago. Never realized how huge a plane it is. I have since seen one fly at an airshow a few years back at the Kansas City Downtown Airport. What a treat!! Love the Mustangs, T-bolts...

Just curious. Always admired the P38. Caiden's book did help me learn much about the P38 that I may not have...

Just Googled it and it is a Dewoitine D.520 French fighter plane; very manueverable, but not as fast as the German fighters it dealt with. Nice photo.

    P-38 war story

I have read "Fork-Tailed Devil", by Martin Caiden and am curious if anyone knows about the story he wrote later in the book. A lone P-38 returns to base and basically "falls apart" as it gets over the field. The pilot is found to have been killed long before the plane returned and the gas tanks...
