To restore something on vintage military equipment, or leave as is?

Thanks for all your replies, it seems that the general consensus is to leave it alone, but I like the idea of making a new one and saving the old one if the future owner wants to put it back.

To restore something on vintage military equipment, or leave as is?

Hi, I would really like some opinions by collectors or sellers of rare items on the forum. I'm trying to figure out if collectors prefer items to be restored, or to be left as is. The glass of a vector bombsight compass I have is badly cracked, obscuring the needle and direction marks...

Hi Shinpachi, Thank you again for all of your help and enthusiasm with my Type 2. I would be very interested in considering what you are suggesting and make a book, but I guess I am not quite sure what a book about the Type 2 would look like. Who would be interested in buying a book...

Shinpachi, you did an incredible job of Translating! Thank you so much! All the work you did is really appreciated. The chart you made of the TEST REPORT showing the altitude and airspeed is fantastic. It's hard to imagine that at the time they were only using 4kg 30kg bombs, and at...

Japanese Bomber Aircraft- Bomb Targeting Compass Site Instrument Information Request

Here are some more photos for anyone who is interested in the Type 2 Bombsite. I believe that I mentioned the glass on the compass is cracked, although the compass itself works fine. It's a shame, since overall the Type 2 is in excellent condition.

Hi Krugster, It is cool to see another variation of the bombsite. Thank you for posting your photos. Although Shinpachi said that the Type 92 was the successor to the Type 2 which I have, it seems as if there is still little info available on it as well, and your research has not been...

Thanks again for your great knowledge, Shinpachi. It is amazing that even though the internet is so powerful, it's hard to find any information on the Type 2. I guess I should take better pictures so that people can study and enjoy it. It's amazing that your uncle use to work for Tokyo...

Thanks for your reply Shinpachi, I had no idea it was so rare! I did a search on line for Type 2 Kai-3 but could not find any info on it, do you know a good site for information about it? It's great to find someone as knowledgeable as you to be able to connect the bombsite to specific...

Japanese Bomber Aircraft- Bomb Targeting Compass Site Instrument Information Request

Hello, I was hoping that someone on this site might be able to help me better identify a Japanese aircraft compass instrument I have. All of the identification and information located on the case, and the instrument, are in Japanese, so I had someone do some rough translation. The label...
