Yes, the 190 was the D9 model. the "fall of the Reich 1945" edition, #08120. had metal landing gear and rims, prop blades, and a sheet of PE goodies.

I managed to get all the old paint off with minimal loss of detail. some rivet detail was lost on the top side of the wings so i re-created them using small drops of glue from the tip of a needle all along the rivet lines.
This is the first kit ive used a clear finish on, so I'm still learning...
I'll try some oven cleaner on a wing and see what happens...
I work on old Cadillacs and have a bunch of cars stuff around, would brake fluid or engine degreaser work?

what brand of decal paper do you use? and where do you buy it?
If I want to make a Ghostbusters logo small enough for a hot wheels car, using just red, white and black colours on a white background, I can just use White decal paper. Right?
Thank you all for the tips, the paint was acrylic so I used a small amount of toothpaste to scrub the paint off, and wet q-tips to clear out the toothpaste. The P-61 canopy is clear again with no white residue. Mission Accomplished!
