Looking for information on German strafing targets for training

Hello Biplane Pilot, Thank you for your reply. Interesting link, when I have more time I will surely have a closer look. The problem is, there seem to have been a large number of training targets near airfields, but there is nowhere information to be found on how those targets operated. In most...

Looking for information on German strafing targets for training

Thanks Fubar. There's already a bit of information there. Do you by any chance know where I can find more info on further manuals regarding training? I've searched wide and far, but couldn't find much.

Looking for information on German strafing targets for training

Hello fellow-members, For a project I'm looking for information, drawings and photographs of German targets for training with strafing. Especially the layout and function of those targets and the process of the training itself is very interesting. Does anyone have sources or documents regarding...

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

Hey guys, Thanks for the replies and help! @ Woodhaven: So it's an interesting piece! @GrauGeist; I already contacted him via Facebook, and later via email, and did send him photographs from the pieces. He did not respond to the pictures yet tho, but he said forward firing 2cm guns and 13mm...

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

Thanks for your reply and the possibilities. I took a look around the website JU88.net and found a lot of pieces that where also found on the crash site. I added a few pictures from the website with parts I found to this post (in the yellow circles and red arrows). Are these types of parts...

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

I think I've identified some of the parts. The rubber handles are from the lining of the fuel tank: http://www.ju88.net/wings-engines/oiltank.jpg And I've also found some parts that match the engine of the Ju88.

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

Hello Snautzer01, Thank you for your reply. I had another close look at the blue dial, and it does say 'Saur...', in stead of Aus, so must be Sauerstoff indeed. Do you know where these parts where located? I also have a small red sign with text. I can read: 'Strich' and maybe 'Achtung' at the...

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

Hello Graugeist, Thanks for your reply! I am sure it is not a dump site. The parts where found around and in a impact crater in the middle of nowhere (forest). The nearest airport (Fliegerhorst) was 20km further and the other crashes in the vicinity are all RAF. I think the Argus part is a type...

    Unknown aircraft part numbers

Hi all, I have a few German aircraft parts in my collection. I still do not know to which aircraft these parts belong. On the internet I found that the R8 prefix is usually followed by the aircraft type number. There is one part with R8 88.942-?023 (I cannot read the letter/number where the...

    Unknown drop tank

Hello wheelsup_cavu. Thanks for your awesome reply! Good searching on your part! I couldn't find the number anywhere on the internet. Although it is not WWII related, I'm stil very glad that we now have an exact match. It's also interesting to see that there is an entire forum dedicated to the...

    Unknown drop tank

Hello forummembers, I recently got this part of a unknown droptank. I already posted this on another forum. Someone there mentioned it could be a wing tip tank from a Sea Venom. I showed the pictures to a WWII aviation expert who said it can not be a wing tip tank due to its size, and was...
