Slam- Thanks so much for your praise :) ArmouredSprue- its the Tamiya 1:48 P-51D boxing, with the prop blades I robbed from the F-51D box. AT6- Thats ye olde grass mats that I bought at the local model railroad shop... I've got 3 different mats, and 2 different lengths.

    1/48 Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop

The Tam D Bubbletop allows you to build with and without the fillet... The Tam M kit is the real gem, as it allows you two different types of fillet, and has almost all of the D Bubbletop parts.

    1/48 Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop

Thanks for the kind words chaps! Sancer, I will be sure to post more pics when I get back into the build. I sourced a fairly good set of scale diagrams online, that have the rough lay out of the riveting patterns, and giving in to a moment of OCD, decided to try and add 90% of them onto the...

    SAAF F-51D Korea

So after avoiding my little boo boo on the F-51s wings... I decided to just accept it and move on. I couldnt face trying to remember the combination of Alclad shades (several different mixes) to try and repair the stupid mistake I made. So I stuck the gear legs and gear doors on, realized I...

    1/48 Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop

So a while back (say 2-3 years ago)... I came upon Trumpeters riveting tool. I immediately played about with it and discovered two things... A) Its not so easy to use initially B) I am completely lousy at riveting So I put it away and thought about it some more Fast forward 2-3...

    1/48 Tamiya F-51D

Nicely done. If you haven't tried it yet, I used the 'hairspray' method for the weathering. Essentially between then the IG and black paint layers, is a layer of hairspray. Any of your off the shelf in the supermarket type variety hairspray will do. To expand on the steps above: Lay down...

    1/48 Tamiya F-51D

Morning all, Have a look at a quick build I did using the Tam P-51D. Built as a 2 Sqn SAAF F-51D in Korea. I used an Aires cockpit set, and it was going to be my first attempt at using Alclads. After quite alot of research on the P-51 cockpit color conundrum, I decided to go for a...

    1/48 Cheetah E

Greetings chaps, Although this is a WW2 site, I have seen a few modern builds being posted. If it is out of place, I will surely remove the thread. Yet another SAAF bird from me.... (what can I say... I grew up in the SAAF).... This is the Italeri Mirage 3 E kit, entirely rescribed...

    1/72 SAAF Dakota

Greetings chaps... A departure from my usual scale of choice.... but have a look at the Italeri 1/72 Dakota painted up as a SAAF Vomit Comet from the Border War. Airbrushed with my trusty Badger 350 freehand, I used Tam acrylics, and clear cotes. I also ended up having to use Crystal Clear...

    1/48 Eduard F6F Hellcat

Nice work there bud! Hellcat's always look awesome! With regard to your Tam tape bleed thru... use a toothpick and make sure to rub down the edges of the tape properly against the frames of the canopy. Also.. remember to use a fresh scalpel or exacto blade and gently follow the canopy frames...

    1/48 Me 109F

I'm honestly not sure... as I say, it was painted based purely on a painting my colleague had received from guys he worked with years ago!

    1/48 Me 109F

Meatloaf.... thank you kindly for the offer... but seeing as my colleague wouldnt know the difference (and still doesnt)... I think things turned out ok! For my own builds, I do tend to strive for absolute accuracy etc. If I recall correctly, the Revell boxing doesnt come with swastikas...

    1/48 Me 109F

Thanks guys! I know the swastika isnt the correct size.... as I said, it came from the spares bin (I believe a Tam Fw190).... I didnt have any 109 sized decals.
