    Dogfight: Me 262 vs. Meteor

Just a quick slightly unrelated question. If the Meteor pilot (the variation used frequently shortly before Battle of Bulge) was to pull up and accelerate vertically, and the 262 pilot also did the same to give a chase, who would lose?

    Dogfight: Me 262 vs. Meteor

Sorry for not mentioning where. I was assuming an airfield for the Meteors was built somewhat before the Battle of the Bulge, when the Allies have captured pretty much all of France.

    Dogfight: Me 262 vs. Meteor

Assume that the GM's pilot was somewhat less experienced but more knowledgeable about the enemy aircraft than the 262 pilot (an allied jet fighter arriving with no warning would've be a shocker). Both of them meet each other at the same altitude shortly after the 262's dive on a B-17 Flying...

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

I think if there are enough holes in the fabric, it would cause some serious airflow problems and the wings would be unable to generate enough lift because the skin was all chewed-up. Assuming the shells don't hit something hard, such as the frame, pilot or engine.

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

I decided to throw out the stuff-throwing at the ME 262's engine. The ME 262's tail won't be completely wreaked, but instead the control cables are cut. Would the loss of control of the tail fins' flaps but with the tail still mostly intact cause an immediate pitch down? I've came across some...

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

So what would kill an engine without causing it to take out the wing? The only situation I can think of is that the engine randomly dies, which did happen quite frequently in RL, including shortly after take off with brand new engines.

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

The extra velocity from the Fokker and the ME 262 (it was flying into the bullets at around 400 mph) does do extra damage. I was thinking it was possible that the bullets didn't do enough damage for the tail fin to snap off when the jet plane was gliding in a straight line at low 400 mph, but...

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

Two questions, would the ME 262 barrel roll or spin in a corkscrew if it lost its tail fin? How would an aircraft respond if it lost half of its right wing? Also, here's a rewrite of the climax: ----------------------------------- He banked hard to the left, then barrel-rolled in an...

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

Well, could the Fokker pilot throw a scarf and a metal box of medical supplies that he happened to carry with him?

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

The reason why I asked you all is because I'm writing a rough draft of a historical fiction for fun. Although I did lots of research, I'm not confident if the dogfighting scene is realistic. -------------------------------- Part of the climax's rough draft: Daniel considered himself lucky that...

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

Like I said, it's a hypothetical one-on-one fight. If we were to make it realistic, it would also beg the question of who, especially an ace pilot, would fly such an old biplane against a jet plane?

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

I didn't think of that. I was thinking the ME 262 pilot would attempt to out-maneuver the Fokker at full speed, such as flying in a very large circle around it, hoping to get an opportunity to shoot. Essentially you have two aircraft that can barely hit each other, one out-turn, the other out-speed.

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

Quick question, could a ME 262 continue fighting with one of its engines dead?

Ace pilot with inferior aircraft vs not-so-ace pilot with superior aircraft?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this thread, so I apologize if it was in the wrong place. Anyways, suppose in a hypothetical one-on-one fight where you have a Fokker D.VII or D.VIII (WWI aircraft), pitted against a jet fighter ME 262. The fight starts with the ME 262 being far above the...
