    Cessna 180

Florian - Before we do this you need to have your friend check on the Swiss aviation regulations and find out for sure if what I've got will take care of your need. In the U.S. there are two types of manuals: the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH) and an Information Manual. For example, I have...

    Cessna 180

Florian - I've got an original '53 180 manual. I'm not interested in selling it but depending on how big a hurry you're in I can scan what you need. Do you need parts of it or the whole thing? If you'd rather have paper, I've dealt with Essco through eBay on several occasions and they've...

    FIRST HELICOPTER AIR-TO-AIR KILL!

For further sources, in the February 2009 issue of Flight Journal Barrett Tillman has an article titled 'An Unlikely Shootdown - Duel at Lima Site 85'. He also cites a book by Timothy Castle titled "One Day Tool Long - The Story of Top Secret Site 85 and the Bombing of North Vietnam" published...

    disturbing Japanese anime' (hiroshima 1945)

Good information to have as it speaks to Mr. Nakazawa's consideration of historical context. But it is information that a viewer of the clip as a stand-alone does not have. If the original writing clearly articulated his position then I'd ascribe no anti-American agenda to Mr. Nakazawa in...

    Ford Island Airshow today

I've got some pics I took at the museum late last year if you want to see 'em. No airshow but I did get some shots inside the restoration hangar. If you want them I"ll get them downsized and upload them. Just let me know if you want them here or in another thread. Gary

    disturbing Japanese anime' (hiroshima 1945)

I probably shouldn't, but here goes anyway. Whether or not a post in this thread is on- or off-topic depends to me on whether or not the topic is the anime and its historical accuracy or the event itself. I don't know that that really got clearly defined but it was almost preordained that...

    SCAPEGOATS!

Regarding a read back requirement on a freq change, there's nothing in the FARs that I can find but I did find this in the AIM: AIM 4-2-3 Contact Procedures d. Acknowledgment of Frequency Changes. 1. When advised by ATC to change frequencies, acknowledge the instruction. If you select the...

    Eagles sign Michael Vick!

First off, don't take this as a defense of Vick. I didn't have a lot of use for him before all the problems and I can understand your being completely lit up about it on several levels. There's a subtle, but important, difference between Rose and Vick as far as the gambling goes. Rose...

    Aircraft Identification V

Looks a lot like the Bede BD-10, Jim Bede's aborted attempt at a homebuilt jet back in the mid-90's. In Bede's usual fashion, the design changed hands several times and had multiple designations. I don't think there are any flying now, unless it's been resurrected again.

    The Movie Pop Quiz....

Was it Robert Clarey, the Frenchman from Hogan's Heroes? I remember him as being a former WWII POW but I don't remember if he was in the movie.

    In Memory of Bob Chamblerlain

My sincere condolences to you and your family, Joe. You were my first thought when I read an L-29 was down and I held out hope that it wouldn't turn out as it did. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Gary

    Aircraft Identification V

With the metal fuselage, side-hinged canopy and "fast" clue I'd go for a modified P-51B (or A-36).
