Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here would be able to identify this plane?
Its shown in a German propaganda short film from June 1918 about the Third Battle of the Aisne.
The footage was allegedly taken at a French airfield at Magneux, and its implied that this is a French aircraft...
The Wikipedia page makes it looks like it did exist during WWII on first glance, only in the article itself its written that it was called 93d Bombardment Group during the war, thats probably why I got it wrong, my apologies.
Thanks again, this is the third time you helped me out!
If they wouldnt show the serial number so prominently in these Newsweeks, I wouldn't have to ask for it every time....^^
And my apologies. Now I feel stupid for thinking it was a JJ haha!
Hey everyone,
I'm sorry for posting again, I hope I'm not spamming in here too much,:D but I'm again looking for an aircraft identification, this time from a B-29 Bomber, shown in a Japanese propaganda newsreel from 28th December 1944. According to the voice-over, it was shot down near Mukden...
Thats rather interesting, as the Newsweek implies it was lost during the Big Week, when it was in fact already lost almost a month earlier.
As usual, thank you very much for your help!
Hiya everyone,
I'm once again asking for some help with the identfication of a shot down B-24 bomber. I'm no expert at this, but if I understand it correctly, the white B in the circle means it belongs to the 93rd Operations Group of the 8th Air Force, but I couldnt really find anything for the...
Coming back to this, I have uploaded the German Propaganda Newsweek issue in which this wreckage is shown to YouTube. There is also a section with an interview with a German crew, in which the gunner talks about a plane that was already crippled, so I strongly assume it's the same as in the...
True, there are different ways of counting this. But also German propaganda did some tricks to increase the kill numbers, e.g. counting all armored vehicles, including half-tracks, as tanks, which is something that happend to Wittmann btw.
Anyway, going back to the topic, this is exactly why I...
Thank you for this very detailed answer.
It seems that the numbers are probably just taken straight from Wehrmacht reports and not changed then, and they are closer to reality than I thought they would be.
Enemy loss numbers from German Newsweeks vary widely, some are extremely off (a German...
My apologies, should have worded that better. I meant Western Allies, e.g. British and Americans. And I would assume, as the voice over said, basically all planes. So day/night on all fronts and all over Germany.
I tried to use the search function, but couldn't find anything. If you could link...
Hey everyone,
I'm currently translating German Newsweek issue No.718 from June 7th, 1944. In it, the voice over claims:
"[...] 1,839 aircraft, including 1,026 four-engine bombers, were destroyed by the heroically attacking German defenses over the Reich territory and over the frontlines in...
This German Propaganda Newsweek, No. 605 from 8th April 1942 , contains some footage of Heinkel He-111 bomber production, from Minute 5:49 to to 8:59.
I thought this might be interesting for some of you. You can turn on English subtitles by clicking on the subtitles button in the bottom right...
