What is your fave ww2 aircraft??

Me 410 B2 with a BK5 cannon, sat in a 410 and the all round view is great but would have benefited from less weight in the airframe and more power in the engines.

    Bf 109 E3(?) identity anyone?

Tried scanning and enlarging slightly, sharpening etc but just cant make out any detail on the plate I am afraid, just wish i could identify the aircraft of personal emblem. I can send a very high res scan to anyone who may be able to do anything with it.

    Spiteful

The fastest of the 70-odd Spiefuls built were two F16's (only two were built) with the Griffon 89 rated at 2,450 h.p and a top speed of 494 mph, these were actual service aircraft flown by the RAF as against special one-off aircraft in developement. I have a photo of a Spit (griffon) that hit...

    Alternative German Fighters: Me-209, Me-309, He-100, etc.

I think the He 100 teamed with the Fw 187 could have given somebody some real ****. both very fast and both better aircraft than the Me pair.

    Bf 109 E3(?) identity anyone?

This photo has never been seen before on the net or anywhere else, found it in a junk shop in Germany early 80's and looks to be a 109 E but not sure, photo is in pretty good condition and about 6'' x 4.5'' b/w.

Fastest Piston Engined Aircraft of WW2?

My vote goes to the Spiteful F16 quoted at 494 mph, twin engined goes to Hornet F20 at 485 mph, Some late model Spits were also capable of 485 mph so anything go faster than these?.

    Focke wulf TA 152 H-1

Wow, even within a nice diorama! Cool Focke Wulf TA-152 H-1. Don't think there are any actual flying examples of this plane in the world... I think the last remaining example is in storage for the Smithsonian, I think all historic aircraft should be returned to their country of origin...

    Focke wulf TA 152 H-1

Just hope I can come halfway near this when I build a 40'' span flying model later this year (or next), always like the Dora 9 and Ta152 and a pity we never saw what they could really do in quantity.

    What of the Me 410?

War of 1812 War Against Mexico The American Civil War But these are ancient history and nobody remembers them, plus they were all 'cowboy' dustups and didnt include the kind of massive forces of men or machinery that Europe had to contend with, admitted they lost a lot of men on Iwa Jima...

    What of the Me 410?

Hopefully I am going for an afternoon out next week to visit my 'old girl' at Cosford and take loads of photos of her, a friend who works there is 'escort' while I spend a lot of time around and in the Me 410. I am taking two SLR's and plenty of film and hope to remove the access panel on the...

    What of the Me 410?

Agreed, Britain and Germany along with other European countries had become accustomed to the idea of losing thousand of men in a very short time, 60 thousand dead in one day on the Somme, thousands more in a few days at Paschendale. Britain has always had something to shoot at and being shot at...

    Best World War II Aircraft?

Why wasnt the Fw 187 put to better use? it was a better box of tricks than the 210 and left the 110 in the dust, looking for plans for a 187 by the way for model construction if anyone knows where I can find them.

    Worst aircraft of WW2?

The best fighter is the one with best manauverability, take the Falklands for instance where supersonic Mirage were useless because of lack of the abilty to manauvre effectively and were shot full of holes by the subsonic Harrier. The Harrier has the ability to manauvre unlike any other...

    What of the Me 410?

The Me410 at Cosford is a A1/U2 and was captured at Vaerlose in Denmark and was then flown to Schleswig then on to Farnbourough on 13th October 1945. On 28th December 1945 it was flown to Brize Norton and in August 1946 was allocated to 76 MU Wroughton for museum storage, for some years she was...
