    Camo taped flight helmet...

Hi All, I am currently restoring an old HGU-26/P flight helmet, doing it up with the late 70's early 80's woodland camo tape. Now I remember a book I used to have with a picture of a 512 TFS F-4 pilot in it wearing a woodland taped helmet.....I think it was taken while reuelling....anyone has...

    Too Tired to Fly

Thing is, with three or four flights a day, you often had only an hour inbetween flights. If you were running late, it meant trying to make up time to get the next flight airborne in time. Now I know one shouldn't rush things or shouldn't allow one-self to get rushed to make up time, but you do...

    Too Tired to Fly

I fly with a Dutch airline, on the A330 now, but used to be on the 737.....and I have to say, I was often quite fatigued. We did 6 day cycles where you would fly an early schedule the first three days, getting up at 03:40 in the morning, doing 2, 3 or 4 flights a day; followed by three days of...

The R.A.F's fighter defence aircraft saving Malta

No...pilots could keep their log-books, the ones you are referring to are the ones that were left after crews were KIA, these logbooks went to the RAF depository and labelled. The family could claim them. Some 20 years ago all the unclaimed ones (must be some 40 to 50.000 were all destroyed.......:(

The R.A.F's fighter defence aircraft saving Malta

Very interested in Malta as well, I recently received a log-book of a 229 Squadron pilot, flew in Malta from the end of 42 till the invasion of Sicily in 1943, very interested reading and loads of annotations on engagement where the odds where 1:3, he was quite thrilled by it though. "Spitfires...

Hi All, Thought I'd introduce myself as well. I'm Chris (Goofy), 36, originally Dutch, but live in Lincolnshire (Bomber County) England these days, a stone-throw away from the old RAF Waltham airfield. My main interest is WW2 RAF memorabilia that I have been collecting for quite a while. I am...
