    Pictures of Cold War aircraft.

The furthest one (far left) back has the same nose painting and short nose as the front (right) one. Plus, it has NAVY painted on the aft lower fuselage (partly obscured by the tractor) and a Navy BuNo on the tail - 152715. More than 3 were made... BuNos 151970, 151971, and 151972 (the middle...

Boeing Names Independent Quality Review Leader

However, the 787 has had years of problems, coverups of those, and retaliation against multiple whistleblowers, so this looks like just another in a string of legit complaints/warnings that Boeing spent more time addressing than they did fixing the issues that generated the complaints/warnings.

    A-6 Intruder 1/48....

Does the Kinetic have the altered radome and FLIR turret ball options for the -E variant?

    ID this plane please

Early examples of the Boeing 247 had the forward-sloped cockpit windows as well.

    F-86H Sabre Restoration

My information is absolutely correct... I never said or implied that they were part of the earlier group. Those two were converted after combat in Korea had ended, the others were converted early on.

    F-86H Sabre Restoration

Yes... but those two F-86F-1s received Oerlikon 206RK cannons (which didn't work out) and they were scrapped in 1958 & 1960.

    Flight Lieutenant William Newton, VC

To the best of my (admittedly small) knowledge of the "Code of Bushido"... Death by beheading by sword was reserved for "valiant enemy who fought well", and was considered to bring honor to both the subject and the sword-wielder. Death by bayoneting was for ordinary soldiers and civilians. Death...

Jet Age History: Successes And Failures. The De Havilland Comet was the First Passenger Jet Airliner

Wiki clams so... the note is "Flew the first international all-jet passenger flight from London to Paris on 23 November 1946." The citation linked to that note for aircraft VH742 is for pages 92 & 93 of Franks, Richard A. The Avro Lancaster, Manchester and Lincoln: A Comprehensive Guide for the...

    F-86H Sabre Restoration

Just remember... the F-86F had 6 .50 cal Browning M3 machine guns*, while the F-86H had 4 20mm T-160 cannon**. The construction number of your F-86H (203-25) indicates it is a F-86H-10... which definitely was a cannon-armed airframe. * 4 F-86E-10s and 6 F-86F-1s were regunned with the cannon...

Jet Age History: Successes And Failures. The De Havilland Comet was the First Passenger Jet Airliner

Barely... if you are talking purposed-designed jet airliners* - its first flight was on 27 July 1949. The AVRO Canada C-102's first flight was on 10 August 1949. That 4-engined** regional jetliner flew well, and garnered orders from National Airlines (US), TWA (negotiating for a 30-aircraft...

Why did some British cold war era fighters have pylons for missiles on top of the wings, or in the electric lightings case fuel tanks?

Specifically, the CFTs are F-16 CFTs. I also doubt the F-35 would be cleared for outer drop tanks. Yes, they would... which is why new drop tanks have been designed for the F-22. F-22 Low Drag Tank and Pylon (LDTP) - USAF poster for upgrades: And a pic from last month...

Fourth Kiwi Mosquito test flew today

According to Wiki on April 1 he will be 72 - only 10years older than me, but he has put in harder miles - especially with that crash in 1979!

    Fleetwings BT-12

The canopy looks a lot like that of the P-35... at first I thought this was a "second-source" downrated version of the AT-12 variant of the base Republic SEV-1/SEV-2 type.

1948 Israel-what combat aircraft would you pick?

The AU-1 featured extensive armor protection, and the four stub pylons for HVARs under each wing were switched to five small stores pylons, either for HVARs or light bombs. Armament of four M3 cannon, with a total of 924 rounds of ammunition, was retained. It featured an R-2800-83W Double Wasp...

    Destroyer Fleet Wiped Out!

Blaming the volcano for the Admiral ignoring the RDF beacon bearings - the testing of which was a major part of the reason they were conducting the exercise - is like blaming the song on the radio for you deciding to drive the wrong way on the freeway.
