Trackie, as you havnt done hardly any modeling before have you thought about looking for a local plastic model group ?. im not sure but i think there was one in the Southend area .They would be happy to give any advice and help starting and building kits.There are a few airo anaracs in my model...
Brilliant photos mate , i build a lot of russian model aircraft at the moment and the pics will be very usefull .I thought there would be a few museums that would be very interested in your engine.

The kit i will be working on is the Encore 1/72 kit with the True Detail resin addon .It gives decals for the 6 IAK Moscow Defence Zone 1942 .12 Guards Moscow 1942 and AV Shlopov Moscow ,but all these are in the winter camoflauge. I wish to do mine in anything but white .Any info on cocpit...

I have found that looking for twigs and small branches in the woods can be very good for small trees and the bark on these is perfect for scale .All you have to watch for is the base where the roots would be as these have to be covered with long grass.Another way is very small saplings pulled up...
I agree Maskol is the best for the job as you just paint it on the area to mask and rub off after .Im not sure but i think you can get it from art shops
