  • My "Screen name" is Carrera2 and I'm an old guy who loves and has studied WWII aviation. In the 60's and 70's I worked with Northrop in the Corporate Office and, later, overseas selling F-5 aircraft. I knew well and worked with many famous WWII aviators such as Adolf Galland, Jack Bradley, John Alison, Arvid Olsen, Tom Lanphier and many others. I look forward to discussing these guys with anyone who is interested.

davparir, that's interesting. Were you in Hawthorne or Palos Verdes? I went to Saudi with the first Northrop/USAF Peace Hawk (F-5) survey team in 1971. I then was associated with the Saudi F-5 program for a number of years in different capacities. I also worked on the F-5 programs in Viet Nam (Skoshie Tiger), Iran, Libya, Greece and Spain among others. As I say, there were lots of Ex-WWII fighter pilots then with

… then with Northrop. Also, we had some interesting consultants overseas. For example, Luftwaffa Gen. (retired) of Fighters Adolf Galland was our consultant in Germany. I got to know Adolf well. Did you ever work at Pico Rivera?

Originally, I worked at Hawthorne on the F-5E for a few years, then I was on the proposal team for the B-2 on Century, then to Pico until it shut down, then to Palmdale for awhile and ended up my career in El Segundo. Cool to meet such a historic figure. I did go to a presentation by Mitsuo Fuchida, who lead the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was invited to our church to talk. He had converted to Christianity.
