    Eduard 1/48 - Bf-109E-1 'Weekend Edition'

Yeah, a few additional mounting tabs, a spacer and some styrene strip worked like a charm for me, rather then trying to fit the engine inside the cowling. Bottomline is ofcourse is the kit is pretty much designed to have the engine visible. I've seen builds that endedn up with misaligned...

    Eduard 1/48 - Bf-109E-1 'Weekend Edition'

Not like you haven't seen one before, but here's my take on the 'Emil', the new Eduard 1/48 E-1 to be exact. After a lengthy project like my last Eduard Bf-110E build it was nice to see this one come together in about 3 or 4 weekends. I left out the engine all together (let alone the coolant...

    Eduard 1/48 - BF-110E, Rudolf Sigmund, II.NJG.2

Due a busy schedule in RL I've been away from this forum for a bit, every forum for that matter. But for the past few months I've been working on and off on this build. Since it's finished at last..I wanted to share the result with you as well. Based on this picture I've turned this build into...

@ Crimea River I recall your build indeed :) will certainly work my way through your topic to see how you handled the issues you've mentionded. Since I got it at a decent prince, maybe some additional photo-etch or resin stuff is a viable option to tackle the problems before hand. A quick...

    Recent Purchases

Latest additions to the stash after todays ESM (Euro-Scale-Modelling) event. Pretty fond of the He-219 kit. Been eyeballing it ever since it came out, but the insane prince (somewhere between 60 and 70 euros over here not including shipping) kinda made me go 'nah' until today..when I found it at...

    Eduard 1/48 - Spitfire LF.MK.IXc

So, here's a few pics of the end result. Overall pretty darn happy with the result. Wonderful kit of a wonderful aircraft that inspires to try and out-do yourself in terms of making a good model out of it. Let alone a few minor things I noticed after I took this final set of pic's that wraps...

    Eduard 1/48 - Spitfire LF.MK.IXc

Some more - albeit minor - progress to report in my Spit. Continued to refine the weathering a few touch ups here and there and some chipped of paint, particularly on the wing roots and wing fillets and a handful of access hatches and such. Also started with putting in place some smaller bits...

Andy, I build up a steady and strong acrylic gloss coat (Vallejo in this case, but other brands of acrylics and Future would work too) and then went in with Windsor Newton artist oils (VanDyke brown in this case) and artist grade white spirit (less aggresive and smelly compared to your average...

    Eduard 1/48 - Spitfire LF.MK.IXc

Did some more work on my Eduard Spitfire. The weathering has started. After having applied the decals and a few stencils here and there I sealed those with an additional gloss coat. After that had fully cured and dried I went in with artist oils. Liberally applied it to the model and let it sit...

Talk about practice bombs reminds me of a funny/silly story - that took place close to where I live - during the war involving the use of practice bombs. At some point the Germans build a fake airfield a few miles away from the actual airfield I live nearby, ofcourse with the intend of confusing...

Thanks for the explanation Andy! Most certainly will give that a go on a next Spitty build :) Will look through that book too for a little bit, got it somewhere lying around as well :)

Good call fellas. Terry, thanks for the explanation about the bomb types/colours. Might yet have to dirty the bombs up a little bit (think artist oils here) to represent the harsh and basic conditions at Semarang (the airstrip 322Sqn operated from) and Andy thanks for showing the brake line...

    Eduard 1/48 - Spitfire LF.MK.IXc

I went on to work on some smaller bits and pieces. First of the two 250lb bomb. As I was looking on the internet for colors (and I've seen 'em in a few variations I might add, so I picked which think looked the nicest) I noticed the front end of these bombs appeared to have some sort of texture...

I Imagine...their shipping costs are a bit over the top sometimes, mine were just about acceptable since I ordered IXe to go with the IXc late ones. Varies greatly depending on where you live. Pity you had to pull the plug on that one though.
