    Research request – Bf 109 E-7 WNr. 4212 (S9+LS), 8./ZG 1, July 1942

I've poked my head into this thread. The information shown is correct. Information sourced from: 1. Luftwaffe Quartermaster's records held at the Imperial War Museum, London; and 2. Namentliche Verlustmeldung (form forwarded to Lw HQ notifying of the death/loss/ injury to Lw aircrew) held at...

ZERSTÖRER The combat history of the Messerschmitt 110 in 1940

A review of the book by 'Bombphoon' on another aviation forum: 'Wow. That was the weekend gone then - and I got precious little done because my copy of Zerstorer arrived. 'I also have the previous version of the book, so did I really need another? One simple flick through absolutely said...

ZERSTÖRER The combat history of the Messerschmitt 110 in 1940

The band is. I finally retired from gigging in September 2022 after being hospitalised for a week with sepsis and a kidney infection. I had always said that if a major health scare crossed my bow I would call time on gigging. Can't complain - I had a good run. Started in January 1969 in the...

ZERSTÖRER The combat history of the Messerschmitt 110 in 1940

Publisher's blurb: Here at Wing Leader, we don't publish 'celebrity' authors. Instead we prefer to stick with the specialist historians who have been studying their subject for decades. The ones who have travelled across Europe interviewing veterans from both sides. The ones who have all the...

Looking for info on the colour schemes of Bf 110s of 7./ZG 26, 1940.

Aircraft that featured in the BoB continued to be used post-BoB. The Bf 110 in my post #8 is a Bf 110 C with the white nose used in the later stages of the BoB. Production of the 'C' fighter variant ended in August 1940, so that Bf 110 is definitely BoB, albeit photographed at a post-BoB time.

Looking for info on the colour schemes of Bf 110s of 7./ZG 26, 1940.

Here's a shot of 3U+GR from the port side. Note the two emblems of II./ZG 26. If you go into a photo program and lighten the photo, the 'R' of 7./ZG 26 can be clearly seen as the fourth character.

Looking for info on the colour schemes of Bf 110s of 7./ZG 26, 1940.

Yep. ZG 2, ZG 26 & III./ZG 76 used white noses. I have not seen a white nose on a II./ZG 76 Bf 110 in the Battle of Britain period. Also, white noses were not used on the Bf 110s of Erprobungsgruppe 210. The Bf 110 Ds of I./ZG 76, used on only one mission during the BoB, also did not have...

Bf 110 with yellow fuselage band in France

Sorry, my main research has been on the day fighter Bf 110. So I can't help with that.

Bf 110 with yellow fuselage band in France

Not over France. In the Balkans campaign in the Spring of 1941, yes. And on the Russian Front, yes.
