From photos, it appears that the main self-sealing fuel tank bladder in F4U Corsairs must had had issues. Quite a few of them have white tape over the seams around the tank in front of the pilot. Were the panels hard to remove - or easily damaged, making them difficult to fit back properly...

A lot of Naval Aviators had time in these.

Beautiful! This is my old build (Early 1990s) of the 1/48 Monogram Marauder. In 2019, I took it out of storage, fixed broken parts like the landing gear and made it look nice again. I used a lot of led weights to get it to sit properly and that affected the gear!

I did what I could with the ancient Lindberg Grumman Goose 1/50th scale model kit.

Question - Did USN yellow wing utility aircraft have wing chevrons? Did they have the colored cowls of three-plane sections ? I ask because I want my model of the Grumman Duck to be accurate. it is painted in the markings of I-J-23 VJ-1 1939 in Hawaii. the Curtiss Hawk is for comparison.

I guess Navy planes used the white stripe marking on the tail too.

Any idea what prt of the B-17 it came from? Wing or fuselage? Is he sure it was from a B-17?

I brush painted this old Revell 1/72 model. I used a camel hair brush with the bristles trimmed to apply the splotches.
