OK, Hitler didnt order the halt. He was in charge though. SO, maybe the Germans biggest mistake in the whole of ww2 is letting the BEF escape? A task that they could and should have realised.
Partly true, I agree, but Nazi rethoric made the ordinary German fear a Comminist grab in the Eastern European countries which frankly wouldnt have been possible without ww2.
Very well put, however, the same can be said of the UK. I both admire and loathe the French. I admire them for actually standing up for their culture and their interests and not being swayed by other powers. And I loathe them for their inward looking selfishness and having lived there for a...
Notwithstanding tha above mad debate about what if the RAF had suddenly all been dissapeared somehow [when UK aircraft production in 1940 outstripped the Nazis] Soren's what if has been an informative debate for me anyway as a what if at least gives you an insight into the limitations of the...
And here is me thinking that the French military have been quite martial down the years. A small blip in ww2 and they seemed to be damned for all eternity. If germany had a border with the US in ww2 I will warrant that the US performance against them wouldnt have been much diffrent from the...
Is it worth doing or was the whole episode actually over romanticised both at the time and since. If the RAF was serious about destroying the Dams, why was it a one off?
I am inclined to think it was done more for the propaganda value, actually I believe that barnes Wallace thought so too...
13.6 million soldiers? I would wonder how many of that figure were actually civilians murdered by the Nazis? Then there are the Millions of Soviet prisoners either executed or worked to death by the Nazis!
Anyway, did the nazis lose the war because they failed to knock out the UK?
Well said brother. Hitler and his nazis lost the war because they were mad, plain and simple. If the Nazis kicked Stalins arse all the way to Berlin why did the Soviets win the war, and what has this got to do with the RN winning the BoB?
Friendly fire unfortunately does happen, but fortunately it is a rare thing. I think it all comes down to FAC procedures. Aircraft should not drop if they are unsure of the target. Unfortunately there are certain nations in Theatre that occassionaly play fast and loose with this directive.
