    GB-48 1/48 TBM-3 (1) - Carrier & Maritime Patrol A/C of WWII

I concur. Googling the turret for that kit I was able to read and view a few helpful hints ... sorry, lost any links I may have had. I built the Accurate Miniatures kit twice. The last one with a wing folding after market kit. Love the look of that aircraft. Mike

    1/48 Revell Ju-87D...1st build after 30+ years

fanghawk, With Andy, George, and Wurger guiding you along with their astounding ability to come up with reference material and their invaluable input, you can't go wrong. Obviously, to me, you already possess superior talent in this delightful hobby so I'll be lurking in the shadows trying to...

Tamiya 1/48 Fairey Swordfish Mk. II

Incorrect, but thanks for the invitation :). I found I had too many problems trying to attach the wings to an already problematic fuselage. All my fault. The first attempt is now history. I'm just happy to watch another thread on the building of this kit. I have another of the same kit and...

Tamiya 1/48 Fairey Swordfish Mk. II

I watched your video and it's very well done! I very much enjoyed seeing how you put together the cockpit - a few little tidbits there that I will refer back to when attempting my second build of this kit. Please pay close attention to Andy's (Crimea River's) build. fubar57 also let you know...

    Wheels on S.E.5a Wolseley Viper

I very much appreciate the additional information you all have linked here. I have been aware of the photo of the replica without covering on the wheels but, because it's simply a replica, I thought it would not be an image that necessarily represented the majority of S.E.5a's in the field...

    Wheels on S.E.5a Wolseley Viper

Thanks guys. I guess I'll use the wire wheels PE for some other 1/48 bip. In any case it'll go in my PE stash.

    Wheels on S.E.5a Wolseley Viper

I'm beginning work on Roden's 1/48 kit of the above and bought the detail set for same from Jadar Model in Poland. It looks like a very nice set of PE with some plastic for the IP included. It does, however, have a set of wire wheels which, I must conclude, are to replace the finely molded...

    **** FINISHED: GB-36 1/48 FW190A-5 - Axis Manufactured Aircraft of WWII

Andy, I'm very impressed with the fading of the camo scheme - especially mid fuselage where the exhaust stain meets the camo. I feel it's a brilliant job on this kit. BTW, I got the wings with the wires all together (again) on my stringbag. However, when attempting to attach them (for the...

    Fairey Swordfish forward slats

at6, Yes, I hope to give it another try. If you were not aware, I got to near the end stage of building this kit back in 2016 and ended up trashing it. The wires buckled, the braces/struts were giving me fits, and I suppose it was all my fault for not thinking ahead, dry fitting, sanding, and...

    Fairey Swordfish forward slats

fubar57, George isn't it? I have lots of EZ Line and thought about making the larger diameter work in the case of the stringbag but looking at the pictures/video I can find it just doesn't seem like it would look quite right - even at 1/48 scale. I'm toying with that idea for which I thank...

    Fairey Swordfish forward slats

I appreciate your opinion. I will have enough to be concerned about just getting the rigging straight. In a PM I sent Andy (not knowing if if was a private message or not) I asked the same question and Andy replied suggesting that perhaps the slats in the pictures I'd linked had been pushed...

    Fairey Swordfish forward slats

I've read a thread from 2010 in this forum regarding the leading edge slats but the conversation was mostly about the BF109. The OP did query about the stringbag but the answers supplied did not satisfy my need to know whether or not the slats were always open/deployed when the aircraft was at...

I really admire your perseverance regarding the decals/actuator/painting. I think what you've done looks very good indeed. BTW, I tried Techmod decals not too long ago and they broke up in the bowl of water. I believe you were fortunate using them (assuming you did not follow Wurger's advise).
