Hi
Whilst dog walking today I picked up this fitting from the crashed WW2 Spitfire P8725. It was in the undergrowth on the surface and is in great condition and part marked. I can see from the Part number 30047 that it is from somewhere on the oil system.
It is a hydrolic elbow of some sort...
Hi Eng.
I have attached so more images which now include measurements. The part was found close to where I have previously found items from the Spitfire Haspano canons . As you said the item could be a belt feed trunking for the ammunition?.
Thanks Danny.
Hi.
I picked up this part yesterday close to the site of the crash WW2 Spitfire P8725.
I have found a lot of debris in the past which has been mostly from the airframe and the Merlin engine. This part has no identification part marks visible but looks like it could be part of the exhaust...
Hi .
Whilst dog walking yesterday in a wood where a WW2 Spitfire crashed , I picked up an item that was partially covered by earth and leaves. It still had a bullet wedged in it so I know that it is from a gun.The bullet is 20mm so I can only think it is from one of the two Hispano canons...
Hi I have researched the loss of Spitfire P8725 and have visited the pilot Sylwester Jezry Godlewski grave on a couple of occasions. I still walk the crash site with my dog and still regularly find object's on the surface . Recently I found the end of one of the four Haspano 20 mm canons from...
Thank you very much for taking time to reply to my post.I will keep the fitting with the other finds from the Spitfire that I have found on previous occasions.Your knowledge of the Merlin engine is amazing. Do you work on them ? Best regards Danny.
I found this part today whilst walking my dog. It was near to the crash site where I have previously found parts from a Spitfire VB P8725.. Does anyone recognise the part. I think it is a hose fitting and part of the casting of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine? The brass castellated nut has a...
An update on Spitfire Mark 11b P8725.
I have been researching for military aircrafts that crashed in Henley on Thames during WW2. I now know that the parts I found metal detecting came from a Mark 11b Spitfire belongings to The Polish 302 squadron. Sadly the brave pilot 27 year old Slywester...
Hi I found these damaged parts whilst metal detecting and I think they could be from a crashed British aircraft maybe a Spitfire. I'm hoping that someone can please confirm this for me and positively identify what type of plane they are from.
Regards Danny Jones
Hi I have measured the panel and it is 12.750 inchs x 5.125 inches.(325 mm x 130 mm ).The part mark seems to be 114T4260-2.Also the other number looks to be 6626702516 OL 43329.Also there is a circle with OMA 193 00 or CO.I hope this information can be of some help.Kind regards Danny.
Thanks for your quick reply. That's a good start as I now know its defiantly off of a military plane .Could this part have fallenl off in flight as I found it in the middle of a field buried in the ground ,?.
Hi, I have recently found this item whilst metal detecting in an isolated field in Oxfordshire. I can see from the quality of the riveting and the parts marking and inspection stamps on each part that this is an aviation panel possibly off a military plane. Could anyone please identify what this...
