Sorry to bug again, but can you pls double-check the BuNo 4659? Again, that BuNo does not appear anywhere in my midway info. VS-5 as I have it is attached. BuNos appear complete, a/c codes not.
If 4659 is correct, can you pls tell me where that comes from?
Thanks
I too would be interested in the source for this. My information has Kleiss in (S-) 7 or (V-S-) 7, but BuNo 3232 (see attached). In the info I have BuNo 4659 is not listed as being on any of the carriers at Midway.
TIA

As for A-4 availability in the Mediterranean, that is unclear. Production is said to have started early in 1941 with first MAJOR combat use in Barbarossa in June.
Just picked up on your thread, and if you want ant more info, I checked the Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries at ww2.dk and found several references to L1+EN Ju-88A-5's, none for A-10s but there was one for an A-4 -

The cleanup trio was Sakai, Ota/Ohta and Nishizawa. From another source I have Nishizawa flying V-171, so I think Sasai as V-171 is wrong. I think the photos are confirmation ....
BTW I have Sasai as V-138 and V-109
