Supposing the Japanese had succeeded in taking Midway by surprise...

The Japanese Navy based all of their early war plans of Pacific conquest on a large surface fleet engagement to destroy America's Pacific Fleet, leaving them free to roam the Pacific at will, and completely isolate themselves from any further threat from the US. The failure to eliminate the...

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

Found this profile on a decal sheet offering. Note #22, machine G-113 is an A6M2(or 3?) with a standard grey under surface. I presume this is a rendering of the aircraft in your photo posted above, and a more accurate depiction of the profile in my original post..................John

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

"Ge-120" (third from the bottom) is the only other machine besides "Ge-113" in the lineup that is not an A6M2-K, and it also appears to be an A6M2(or 3). It clearly has a light colored undersurface compatable with standard grey camo. This would suggest to me that Ge-113 would similarly have a...

Wurger and Shinpachi, I think this last photo might support the appearance of the profiled aircraft, although it's not conclusive. Thanks for your help...................John

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

Thanks Wurger and Shindpachi, just the sort of information I need. Do you have a reference for the photo from Wonson? Is the lighter color of the undersurface of the machines in the photo definately orange according the the source of the photo, or is than an assumption? (the shade of the...

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

Thanks Paul. I am an RC model builder with an A6M5 1/5 scale version under construction, and would very much like to document this scheme for scale contests, but at a minimum, photographic evidence is essential for a presentation folder. This would be a most unique model, and easy to see in it's...

    Japanese Aircraft markings and Camouflage

I have come across this profile in publications and websites but have not seen an actual photo of this machine. It appears to be un-armed, possibly recon or trainer? There is incomplete identifying information on this scheme (unit, location, time frame, or pilot?) on the profiles I have seen. Is...
