    Avro Lincoln

Remember, the next step was the Shackleton, that served for decades, so the development wasn't totally wasted.

    opting out

pattern14, Don't be so thin-skinned. You need a more relaxed attitude. Take what you want and leave the rest, like the song sez. Sure, there are some immature jerks here, but that's life. Non carborundum illegitimas, baby!

Merlin powered carrier fighter other than Seafire

Converting a land based plane to carrier ops means band aid strengthening for tail hook and launch stresses, as well as folding wings. Plus as mentioned, more fuel capacity. All that weight has to have a detrimental effect on performance compared to the original land plane. Plus you end up with...

Looks agricultural to me. Combine cylinder clearance adjuster?

Imagine this unusual navy bird with a tail hook

I believe that Canadian-marked B-47 was on special loan from the US, and was the only one we ever had in Canada. Designated the CL-52, it was the only foreign-operated B-47 ever. Apparently the airframe was twisted out of shape by the big Orenda Iroquois, and it was scrapped on its return to the...

Imagine this unusual navy bird with a tail hook

Photo has to be later than 1975, that's a '75 or so Chevelle and a '71 or '72 El Camino in the hangar.

    Boeing Stearman?

Yep, Stearman. The wing brace wires are a dead giveaway. Double flying wires and splayed landing wires all say Stearman.

    P-47 carrier capable?

I recall a quote somewhere to the effect that, "if they built a runway all around the world, Republic would build an airplane that would use it all!"

    Ju187 tail

The whole thing was a big waste of time anyway. It couldn't have survived in the air environment that would have been prevalent by the time it entered service, good field of fire or not.

    "Mig-19"

I have an Air Progress mag from the '50's with an article on Soviet planes that has a drawing of the "Mig 19" and a bomber that looks like the Junkers FSW project ID'd as a Tupolev product. The spies were using their imagination pretty good back then!

    "Mig-19"

My mistake, it was the Aurora kit I saw advertised.
